So we’ve all sought out inbound links to improve our position in the SERPs, but have you considered using other types of links in your website?

How do I know?

The snippets that search engines use for my pages in the SERPs (when they aren’t using meta descriptions) are places where I used my target keywords or keyword phrase in links to other resources and websites. This is a good indicator of what content they felt was most important.

What you should do:

You’re not going to hoard all the traffic you get at your website forever. Go ahead and link to other websites. It’s a win/win situation. Maybe you can get a link exchange out of it. Make sure to use keywords in the anchor text. Instead of “Click Here”, use “Web Design Resource” or something similar.
