Good Luck Finding a Developer
Demand for Drupal related services is increasing exponentially, as is evident from the increase in inquiries at my website this past year. Unfortunately, it seems the availability of Drupal related services are not increasing to match.
I had one especially hell-ish project this year because I was not able to find a developer to help me with some modifications. The reasons ranged from:
- Unfamiliarity with the module(s) involved
- Got a new day job and didn't have time
- $5K minimum - or MORE
- Just plain busy
I am hoping this is a fluke or a side effect of the modules I was using. Let's just say that I am not jumping at any OG projects any time soon.

Drupal is a powerful platform, feature rich & stable.
I think you might find a developer these days since many are jobless recently.
You may try to post on Monster for job vacancy & wait for one.

Hi Jolene, greetings from Munich, Germany! I cannot agree more. We are faced with about the same problem really and what's more for us: since we are not U.S. based, most of the Drupal developers out there who are in the U.S. (and these seem to be the majority) seem to not trust at all a contractor from outside the U.S. - One particular high profile Drupal dev guy you hear about constantly on Drupal.org and JUST the guy for a particular development task said: hey, you are not in the U.S., who tells me if I get my money. Well. The other one was plain arrogant, both in his mails and in his price ideas for the adaption of the most simple stuff. Both - and this actually alienated me the most about them - shared an attitude as if I had made some rather indecent proposals to them...
Well, I'd be very happy if you could contact me directly by email, since we might be able to help each other in what we are doing a lot. You got my address from my profile I'd be happy if you could drop me a short line!
BTW: you might want to check your access settings for this site: it appears I have access to editing YOUR blog post and access to the outliner as well...
Hope to talk to you soon, Steve.
I was also disturbed by some of the "lack of concern" that I got. I suppose folks are busy, but I don't expect it because I need a simple customization that should only take a few hours for a competent Drupal-ite.
For the record, I would like to highly recommend Khalid and Jeremy as guys that are on the ball as well as accessible. Very friendly and honest about what they can and cannot do. Wulff has been very helpful to me as well, although I haven't been able to get a hold of him lately.
BTW: I have more trouble with taxonomy access than I bargained for. You never know what will crop up.
